Outside of his career in interventional cardiology, Christopher Mallavarapu pursues a longstanding passion for chess. An avid chess player and dedicated collector, he has spent years building a collection of exotic, vintage, and one-of-a-kind chess sets sourced from around the world. His focus is on pieces that carry genuine character, sets rooted in specific cultural traditions, built from rare materials, and crafted with a level of artisanship that mass production cannot replicate.

Dr. Mallavarapu is an active member of the online chess collecting community and brings the same deliberate, detail-oriented approach to his collection that has defined his clinical career. For him, chess represents more than a pastime. The strategic depth of the game, the patience it demands, and the discipline of collecting sets with real provenance and history reflect values that run through everything he does.
